Debbie Turner Obituary

Debbie Turner

Of Menlo Park, CA, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2016 with her family by her side at Stanford Medical Center. Debbie was born on October 2, 1959, to Thomas and Gayle Turner of Los Altos Hills, CA. Debbie graduated from Sacred Heart Preparatory in 1977. She continued onto UCLA where she graduated in 1981, receiving a degree in Sociology. Debbie was a proud member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority.

She was an extremely strong and independent person. Her actions always spoke louder than her words. Debbie was always eager to help and had perfect timing whenever offering her assistance. She was an ambitious volunteer throughout her life; working with battered women's shelters, The Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, Veteran's Affairs and various other organizations. She was also an active member of the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church. Along with her passion for helping the community, she loved all things fashion and sports. Debbie faithfully cheered on her UCLA Bruins, 49ers, Warriors, Giants and San Jose Sharks, during every game, every season.

A large and loving family survives Debbie. She was an adoring and patient older sister to Tracey, often imprinting her younger sibling with her fashion style and taste in rock music. "Auntie Debbie" was a doting aunt to her nephews and niece, Tyler (Brittany), Jamie (Chrissy), Carter and Katie. She was especially proud of becoming a great-aunt in recent years to Harrison and Sullivan (Tyler and Brittany) and Aubree (Jamie and Chrissy).

I can't believe another year has come and gone. Prayers for the family of my friend. I'm smiling right now thinking about the funny girl who had the best shoe collection a girl could ever want.

Now I'm wondering how many from the class of 1977 are still with us. Those were some great times. Debbie is still in our hearts and prayers

Im shocked and saddened to hear of Debbie passing.I considered her a close friend and will miss her..i always will think of her with fondness as she and my brother Frank dated in high school for awhile. We went cruising around town when she got her first car..The yellow boat...drove to the beach many days and went to concerts. Wow where did the years go ????.

I am so sorry to hear of Debbie's passing. I'd like to send my condolences to her family & friends. Debbie was one of my sorority sisters at UCLA. When I was a brand new pledge, we had to find our own dinner on Sundays. Debbie very kindly asked me to join her at one of her favorite places in Westwood Village. It was so sweet of her and so typical of Debbie to make others feel welcome. She had friends all over campus. Deb will be truly missed.
