Born June 4, 1942, passed away October 6, 2013, was raised in Winchester and Falmouth, MA and attended high school at Cushing Academy, MA. Soon after graduating from the University of Colorado, Diana moved to San Francisco where she spent most of her career as a Speech and Language Therapist in the San Francisco Unified School District. She lived in Daly City for over 40 years.
Diana enjoyed international travel, including vacations in her time-share residence in Puerto Vallarta, and loved musicals, sometimes traveling to London just to watch a week of theater. Diana loved animals and rescued many fortunate dogs and cats throughout her life. She spent her recent years in Aegis of San Francisco, where her friends, like her family, remember her for being lively, vivacious, and loving good conversation and mischievous humor.
Diana is predeceased by her parents: Richard Chase and Barbara Chase Jefferson, a brother Richard Chase II, and a stepfather, James F. Jefferson. She is survived by a stepbrother, Gary H. Jefferson, Newton, MA and a stepsister, Jill J. Park of Montross, VA, her West Coast family of choice, Edith Wiggins Singer of San Francisco and Edith Gilbertson of Palo Alto, CA, and two cousins, Janice H Chisholm of Houston, TX and Jacqueline Goodman of Kalispell, MT, four nieces and one nephew.
Services will be held on Sunday, October 20th at 3 pm at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City, CA. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston or the San Francisco chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

I will never forget our trips to Central and South America and Africa. Europe was fun too. You were the best traveling buuddy ever! There are so many two- and four-legged critters waiting for you. My parents and good old Gramma Root especially, and pets from Foggy Bottom, Rain, Tettlebach,(mine) to George, Andy and Midnight are all waiting with joy!
