Diana Grosso Nichols, daughter of the late Dr. Robert Grosso and Dr. Norma Bacigalupi Grosso, sister of the late Norma Grosso Geissberger was born in San Francisco on April 9, 1931. Diana grew up surrounded by a large Italian family and lived in North Beach and the Marina. Family was important to Diana and she spent a great deal of time with her Italian Parents, Sister, Cousins, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles. She was a dedicated student, excelling at Lowell High School and the University of California, Berkley. During and shortly after college, Diana caught an incurable travel bug. She traveled the world, visiting every continent and becoming immersed in the cultures she visited, traveling with Rochelle and Susana, her frequent travel partners. Of particular interest to Diana were textiles, something she studied and collected during her travels. She was a prolific reader. Diana worked at the Bank of America where she met and later married Robert E. Nichols and became the loving stepmother of Craig Nichols, Robin Nichols and Kim Nichols Jeffries, who blest her with grandchildren, Briana Wertz and Jamie Nichols and their six children. Diana and Robert had a loving marriage and made Ord Court in the Castro their home, decorating it with treasures they collected over their years together. After Robert's passing, Diana made the decision to move to the San Francisco Towers and spend the final phase of her life making new friends and continuing her travels. She is also survived by her cherished nephews and their spouses Marc and Christine, Michael and Amanda, Jeffrey and Danielle, John and Krista Geissberger and their eleven offspring. Honoring Diana's wishes, a small family funeral will be held on September 29, 2023. Donations can be made in her name to Hospice of San Francisco.
