Donald Shaffer Obituary

Don J. Shaffer

November 21, 1954 - May 28, 2015

Don passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. Son of Charles and Virginia Shaffer, husband to Lisa, loving father to Jenna; brother to Sandra (Shaffer) and Ron Ward, and Ray and Karen Shaffer; Uncle to Matt (Kalie) Ward, Ryan (Lindsay) Ward, John Ward, Tricia Ward, and Krissy (Ross) Macumber.
Don was a loving father and uncle who took great pride in the acomplishments of his daughter, nieces and nephews. He delighted in watching them grow, and in being the Dad and Unc who made them laugh. We will miss his zany sense of humor and his big heart. Don was talented in his craft and proud to be a second generation member of Local 104 of the Sheet Metal Workers of Northern CA, as was his uncle before him. Don was a generous father and husband, and a sensitive soul who loved animals and music. He was a boy from the Mission who loved his SF Giants and 49ers. His spirit will be forever in our hearts. Services will be held privately. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to American Veterans or Wounded Warriors.

Dear Sandy and Ray, I just found out last night of the passing of Donny and I was very saddened to hear this news.. I ran into Donny a couple of years ago in San Carlos and we shared a few laughs about our days in SF. Just wanted to send my condolence. Best regards to you and your family. Bruno Pezzulich

It was a privledge to have met Don and be his friend. He was a warm, gregarious, teddy bear of a guy. My condolences to Lisa, Jenna, Sandy, Ray and the rest of the family. Don will truly be missed, but he's in Heaven now with his Mom and Dad.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Don. He had the knack of making people smile & laugh. I have fond memories of the times we spent together. My Dad enjoyed Don as his apprentice. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the entire Shaffer family. I knew Donny as a teenager and young adult. Never in my life has a young man made me smile or laugh as much as Donny did. I am smiling now in my rememberence of him. Much love to the family, may God heal the pain of your loss.
