Donald Silk Obituary

Donald Silk
07/31/2024
Donald B. Silk, born in April 1923 in Oil City, Pennsylvania to William J. and Louise K. Silk, died of natural causes in Vancouver, Washington on July 31, 2024 at the age of 101.
A veteran of WWII and the Korean War, Don had a long career at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco on Sansome Street, retiring in 1986. Don was a single father beginning in the 1960s, which was very unusual for the times.
Don lived in San Francisco from 1948 until December 2023, but also left his heart on Whidbey Island in Washington, along the Oregon Coast, and among the Giant Sequoias of Calaveras County, California.
He was predeceased by his parents, and all his peers. He was also predeceased by his siblings: Shirley Sandercombe (and husband Bill), Edward Silk (and wife Patty), and Patricia; and his nephew Russell Sandercombe.
He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Silk (Rick DeVol) of Eureka, CA, son Michael Silk (Lisa) of Vancouver, WA, grandchildren Caitlin Silk and Russell Silk, brother Robert Silk of Markham, Ontario, Canada, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind caring neighbors Shirley and Felix Chan.
No services are planned.
