Donna Wetteland Obituary

Donna Anne Wetteland
1951-2020
Donna passed away at home, in the comfort of her family, after a brave battle with ALS. She leaves behind Patrick, her husband of nearly 49 years; her children, Michael (Mi'chelle); Timothy (Sara); Shaun; and Kelly (Bill Mason); as well as her brother, William Jr (Roxanne). Donna was preceded in death by her parents, William Sr. and Bette Kovacich, as well as her brother, Ronald. She had nine loving grandchildren: Brett and Ryan Wetteland, Becky, Katie, and Amanda Wetteland and Billy, Haylee, Taylor and Mia Mason.
Long-time residents of San Mateo, Donna's life centered around her children and grandchildren. She and Pat were active members of St. Timothy's Church and School, especially helping with parent club fund raisers and activities, as well as in the sports program as directors and coaches. Donna was also the founder and director of the St. Timothy After School Care Program. Her parish and school activities produced many life-long friends.
Upon their move to Roseville Ca., Donna and Pat devoted their lives to their grandchildren's activities. Her dedication, friendship, and wry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be private. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Sacramento ALS Society, 5701 Sunrise Blvd. Citrus Heights, CA 95610

I grew up with and went to both kindergarten and grammar school (Epiphany) with Donna and even lived on the same street in San Francisco. I remember her beautiful smile and those "freckles". She was also given a place of honor at my birthday parties as a child. I remember her learning to drive as she passed by my parent's house. My thoughts and prayers go out to both the Wetteland and Kovacich families

I think I met Donna once. Pat, I am so sorry for your loss. It is very difficult to lose someone you love very much. I too have had a loss in my life recently. My daughter, Danielle passed away. Her son now lives with me. He will be 20 in December. I will add you and your family on my prayer list. Just remember all the great times you spent with her.

Dear Pat and Family
I was so sorry to hear about your lost. I'm so glad I had gotten to know Donna from Epiphany and when our sons would play against each other in grammar school and high school. Donna was so easy to talk with.

Dear Wetteland Family,

We were so saddened to hear of Donna's passing. We are thinking of all of you at this difficult time. Donna was one of our absolute favorite people and we will miss her, terribly. Our first memories of Donna, are at the CA Firefighters Olympics, each summer. We were all there, with a team full of kids, every summer. Donna had her hands full with four little ones, who of course always needed her attention. Donna always found time to chat and always found humor in even the most trying situation. And we loved how she'd laugh right along with you, after making us laugh! We have such fond memories, of Olympic parties in Donna and Pat's San Mateo backyard. She'd smile through it all, as a team full of sweaty, filthy fireman loaded into her hot tub. We had so much fun! It's been such a pleasure to be a part of your family growing up, and now your grandchildren, as well. Donna, you were an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We are beyond grateful, that we ran into all of you in Sacramento, last year, at a baseball game, and that I had a chance to have a long conversation with Donna and Kelly. Donna had lost her voice, but we communicated the way we always have, and that twinkle in her eye was there, at every point where she would have cracked a joke, or found humor in a situation, if she'd been able to. I am beyond thankful for that day. To Pat and family - you took amazing care of your amazing wife/mom/grandmother. Thanks for all you did for her. Pat and Kelly - there are no words adequate to express my thoughts. The love and care you provided was beyond amazing. We are here if you need anything. May the wonderful memories you all share of Donna, remain forever in your hearts, and bring you peace. Donna - we will miss you so much, friend! Thank you for your friendship, for the past 40+ years. We are so grateful. May your Rest In Peace.
With love to you all,
Holly and Mike Pera

Donna was along side of me on every one of the St. Timothy Elementary School Christmas shows. She was always there to do whatever was necessary and always made it lots of fun for the kids (and me)! She was always making people laugh... I think that is what I will remember most about Donna. I send my prayers and sympathy, love and support to her entire family.

Dear Wetteland and Kovacich families,
My sincere condolences on the loss of such an ebullient woman. Donna and I went through Epiphany together. I remember with great fondness the ‘Green Stamp Revolt’ led by Donna after a particularly antagonizing volleyball match with St. Agnes. She will surely be organizing something in heaven. Rest In Peace, Donna.
