Eamon Corry Obituary

Eamon Corry
October 29, 1963 - March 10, 2021
Beloved son of the late Sheila and Ned Corry. A Noe Valley native, he attended St. Phillips School and maintained lifelong friendships with his classmates. Growing up he spent countless summers in Ireland on the farm in Co. Kerry and Co. Clare with family, from which he held cherished memories. Eamon attended St Ignatius College Preparatory, where he played soccer and lead the team to a WCAL championship as the Most Valuable Player.
He proudly played soccer for the San Francisco Glens Soccer Club and Irish Football with the Harps, the Sons of Boru and the Cusacks winning multiple North American Championships. Almost always wearing the number 7, he was notorious for his ferocity both on and off the field.
He became a sprinkler fitter and worked as a proud member of Local 483, before becoming employed by and retiring from the San Francisco Water Department, Local 38.
He was actively involved in St. Veronica's Catholic School, where he served as Men's Club President.
Eamon throughout his life was a proud San Franciscan, who was passionate about sports, family and friends. He was known for his selfless generosity and would give the shirt off his back to anyone without question.
He is survived by his two loving daughters Jennifer Corry and Colleen (Joey) Kellison, his granddaughter Kennedy Meabh, Megan Corry, and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the United States, Ireland and England. He will be remembered for his loyalty, strength and generosity of spirit and his heart of gold will be sorely missed.
Friends may call Tuesday March 16th 4pm-6pm at DUGGAN'S FUNERAL SERVICE 3434-17th St. and are invited to attend the Funeral Mass, 10:30 am on March 17th at St. Philip the Apostle Church, Diamond and Elizabeth Sts. Committal, Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma.

First and foremost, my condolences to Megan, the girls and the family.

Eamon will forever be remembered for his tremendous generosity, his work ethic and his unparalleled competitiveness. I had the pleasure and privilege of calling Eamon my friend. Although people looked at us as the odd couple hahaha, we shared a bond built around overcoming life’s obstacles. Despite our age difference, we immediately clicked when we began to work with each other at the Water Department. As time went, I grew to understand and the method to his way of doing things. Not always agreeing obviously, but nonetheless understood his ways. He, like many of us, dealt with challenges in different ways, but despite the challenges Eamon remained a loyal friend.

I will forever remember Eamon with fond memories. I know he’s in a better place now, finally able to rest easy. Love you Eamon, Bert.

I offer many blessings and peace to this man who I watched suffer for some time. Being his neighbor for the last couple of years I got to know him quite well, in an "every day kind of way". I pray for levity, grace and support as he transitions from this life. Blessings to Eamon and his immediate family. May this moment bring you peace and the knowing that so many "unseen" helpers are here to support you in this life.

Friendship, Loyalty and Love - These values defined Eamon. Whether in sport or in life, he lived true to himself, regardless of what others might say. He was quick to defend the weak and to clobber the arrogant and to give all the money in his pocket to someone who needed it more.
May Eamon's children and grandchildren know what a generous, kind and profoundly human man he was! And may the Peace of Christ comfort and reassure you that Eamon's Friendship, Loyalty and Love gave great meaning to others in this life.

Played a lot of soccer with Eamon over the years. Always went out of his way to protect me when I was on his team, and also tried to crush me when I wasn't. Eamon was the ultimate teammate and really a great guy off the field as well. When you think of the SF Glens, you think of Eamon Corry. RIP

When he first walked into basketball practice at age 11, Eamon was all ruffled and bloody. I asked Eamon what happened. He said that he had been in a soccer game and "we lost the game but I won the fight"! Eamon had a special spirit and drive as a youth. I am proud of his accomplishments as an adult. His was a life taken too soon!

Eamon was a rare breed. He had my back and would do anything for his cousins. When I was young and didn’t get along with my parents, he had his doors open for me to stay at his house any time. We were both the stubborn ones of the family so would have constant arguments, but he would always take me to dinner later and mend things with me. I miss you already! Eamon was truly a living legend.

Condolences to Jennifer, Colleen, Megan & family.
Being raised within one block of the Corry’s & the McCahill’s made us all very close cousins. I watched Eamon as a child and saw him grow into an extremely talented athlete. One, who had the honour of playing football in Croke park. Eamon did have a heart of gold and he was always a friend.
Rest in peace cousin.
