The life of the party and the biggest kid in the family will be missed this Christmas. Toys and fun gadgets, that was Ed. He was born November 6th 1949 in San Francisco California at St. Mary's Hospital. He died too soon December 9th 2013 at his home in Fernley, Nevada.
Ed is survived by his: Mother, Ursula Alano; son Stefan Alano; daughter Heidi Timmerman son-in law Greg Timmerman, granddaughters Elizabeth and Katherine Timmerman; Ursula Faust the mother of his children and her husband John Emlen; brothers and sisters Maureen Alano, Brenda Altman, Marta Alano, Kevin Alano, Patty Jayo and Emile Alano. He will be missed by his numerous nieces and nephews: Nathan Alano, Julia Zolinsky, Genevieve and Nicole Porter, Claire Grant, Emily Van Brunt, Ethan Alano, Natalie and Anna Jayo, and Tara and Cianna Alano. His father Emil Cruz Alano predeceased him December 8th, 2000.
Ed went to Saint Vincent de Paul grade school and Sacred Heart Cathedral (1967) in San Francisco. He was a 1981 graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno. He served in the United States Army (August 14th 1970 to February 1th 1973) and attained the rank of Captain. He recently retired from United Parcel Service where he drove long distance routes throughout Nevada and Northern California.
Ed had a great passion for motorcycles and encouraged many of his relatives to ride. He was also a big 49er fan bragging that he was born in 49 and that the team was named in honor of his birth year!
He recently purchased a motor home and was planning to visit everywhere in the USA, his private Nevada license plate proudly displayed "CUSAC2C."
Ed touched the lives of everyone he met and will forever live in the hearts and memories of all his family and friends.
Services for Ed will be at Star of the Sea Church, 10 am, San Francisco January 4th 2014 with his ashes interred at the Emil Cruz Alano grave site in the Veterans section of Cypress Lawn following the service.

Today I learned of the passing of Ed. I was his supervisor at UPS, and when I left to continue graduate studies, I convinced senior management that he would take my place. He was the hardest working member of my team. Although I have been gone from UPS for over 35 years Ed was always in my thoughts. The guy was fantastic. Ask him to do something and it was always done right. I never had to look back and check if it was done. I tried to find him over the years, but today was the day. My best to the Alano family.

I learned today of Eddy's passing. I attended SVDP with him and have not seen him since grammar school. I noted that he attended UNR. I graduated from UNR class of 1971. I remember Eddy as a kind young classmate. My thoughts and prayers are with the Alano family.
