Edward Macaulay Obituary

Edward Crayton (Ted) Macaulay

MACAULAY, Edward Crayton (Ted). Died peacefully at home on September 7, 2016. Father of Peggy Macaulay, Susan Macaulay, and Ted (Janis) Macaulay. Grandfather of Eddie and Andrew Macaulay. Also survived by his sister, Mary M. Israel, and nephew, Thomas M. Wood.
Ted was born in 1927 to E.L. and Pauline Macaulay. Ted attended John Muir Elementary School, Willard Junior High School, and Berkeley High School. He became an Eagle Scout in 1943, Berkeley Troop 7. As a young man, Ted raised the flags and sold programs at Cal's Memorial Stadium. Ted graduated from Berkeley High School in June 1944 and immediately enlisted in U.S. Navy. He entered Cal in September of 1946 and graduated in June 1949 with degree in Business Administration.
Ted married Anne Parrish in 1949 after dating for 7 years. (Their marriage ended 34 years later with her untimely death in 1983.) Ted was recalled to active duty in 1951 and spent two years in the Navy during the Korean War. Ted is also survived by Ann Mosgrove, who he married in 1987 in Fresno, where he lived the rest of his life.
Ted had a very happy life with his loving family and many friends. He had a fantastic memory, a keen sense of humor, and many interests. He loved the outdoors and never met a mountain he didn't like. He loved going to Inverness with his family and friends and also loved backpacking in the Sierra. He hiked the John Muir Trail in 1968. Ted also enjoyed hiking in the Alps, Canada, and especially, in New Zealand, where he walked the Milford Track twice. Ted enjoyed playing bridge, collecting stamps, and was an avid San Francisco Giants fan since 1951. Ted was an original season ticket holder at Candlestick Park and attended all 7 games of the 1962 World Series.
At his request, no services will be held. Donations in Ted's memory may be made to the Inverness Volunteer Fire Department, 50 Inverness Way, Inverness, CA 94937.
