Constant, loving thoughts of you remain in my heart along with that of others who knew you, Ed. You will always be my best friend in college and ever after as we shared our experiences through the years. Only wish we had had a few more bonding reunions before your tragic demise. Rest in peace, dear friend.

The shock of Ed's tragic death (with his longtime friend Dr. George Chaney)still quivers in our souls as we attempt to learn more of the circumstances of his loss in the Napa, California, wildfire and better fathom the incomprehensible circumstances of the event. Lisa and I ventured recently to Napa from our home in Henderson, NV, to see if we could walk the site of his passing and inspect local records for any specific information on his demise. We're still waiting for more information from the coroner's office there to know more, but at least we feel closer to him and George through sight and tread of their hillside residence that reveal only crushed rubble, lonely bricks and, otherwise, total destruction. Ed and I were college roommates at Cal Berkeley in the early '60s and maintained our friendship and occasional contact throughout the years along our different paths. I always spoke of him as "my best friend" and never wavered in that sentiment. We can only hope that his death was quick and relatively painless and that his friends and family remember him as a human being of deep feelings for his close friends, acquaintances and passers-by in whatever circumstance of life he found himself. So, good-bye, my good friend Shtone, as we knew him. We'll miss you dearly.

It is with great sadness hearing of the death of Ed and George. I have known Ed for over 30 years and he was a kind and gentle man, with a wonderful drysense of humor. Sometimes it would take a bit for him to say something and we would get a chuckle out of it. I have wonderful memories of him. May he rest in peace.

It is with genuine sadness that I advise you of the death of our dear friend and neighbor, Ed Stone. Ed was one of the original (or near original) owners at GG Block I and for years served our community as co-trustee (with a representative of the commercial owner) of the HOA's Membrane Trust Fund. Ed did this job, as he did everything, superbly but with his usual humility. He left our block when his health required him to move to the home in Palm Springs he shared with his long-term companion Dr. George Chaney.
Ed was smart, thorough and able. But most important, he was kind, a loyal friend and a wonderful neighbor. He and George had a small home in the Napa Valley that was their pride and joy. They died in the Atlas Peak fire.

Ed Stone was the epitome of friendship, loyalty, kindness to his fellow man. He was loved by family, friends, colleagues, and greatly respected and admired in the San Francisco business community. He had a gift for knowing who needed his help and how he could quietly help. He was the Bay area's greatest Ambassador, walking all over the City he loved, walking to and from work, and speaking to everyone in his path. Those of us lucky enough to work with and be his friend will be forever grateful for his kindness, loyalty, and guidance. We are so sorry for your loss and all of those lost in this tragedy and will pray for you all each time we think of Ed. ❤❤❤❤
