Efren Bernal Obituary
Efren is survived by his loving wife Norma of 42 years, caring daughters Mariel, Sheila, and Kelly, proud grandchildren Thomas, Anani, and Jonathan, respectful son-in-laws Rane and Kevin. Brothers Rudy, Manny, Remy and sisters Nora and Ellen and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Efren was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all.
He was born in the Philippines to Gabriel and Maria. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1982. Efren loved art and worked as the San Francisco Cable Car detail artist for 29 years until he was forced to stop due to cancer which he battled for 5 months. Efren devoted his life and talent to the fleet of historic moving landmarks. Efren's beautiful artwork is admired by many internationally. Efren's paintbrush has touched each Cable Car that stroll brightly through the streets of San Francisco, each with unique splendor.
Efren will be remembered for his kindness and generosity. Efren warmly welcomed everyone to his home. Efren loved to barbecue steak to perfection for his family and guests any day of the year while he listened to music off his prized stereo system. He introduced his daughters to vast culinary culture. He enjoyed family trips to Napa and Disneyland. His greatest joy was spending time with his precious baby girl Kelly and his beautiful grandchildren.

A time of gathering will be held on Thursday, January 3 from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Holy Angels St Joseph 2540 Church Lane San Pablo California. Funeral services for Efren will be at St. Paul's Catholic Church 1845 Church Lane in San Pablo on Friday, January 4 at 10:00 a.m. Efren will be laid to rest at Holy Angels St Joseph Cemetery 2540 Church Lane San Pablo California. My deepest sympathy and condolence to Bernal Family. Efren was like an older brother to me, we were once a neighbor in Pinole. I still remember the times when he will call me and give me over the fence his delicious BBQ. Rest in Peace my friend.
