Eleanor Gaggero Obituary

Eleanor C. Gaggero June 1, 1915 - November 2, 2007 We lost a great mother, sister, cousin, grandmother, family leader and friend. Eleanor was born in San Francisco on June 1, 1915 to Edith and Thomas Cullen. As a child she enjoyed school and was forever proud of her beautiful penmanship. She left school early to help her family. She married the late Ernest Gaggero in 1933. They raised their five children, Ernest, Angelo, Mary Ann, Mario and Ronald, on San Francisco's Potrero Hill. As her children had children, Grandma's House was the "place to be" for her 10 grandchildren. She was a wonderful grandmother, and a great source of love and fun for her grandchildren. Eleanor's love for children extended to her 18 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In 1978 Eleanor relocated to Daly City to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Eleanor lived a very full life. She was a strong person who was happy and energetic. She loved to talk, laugh, cook, play cards, people watch, go bowling, go out to eat, sing and dance. She gave back to this world by helping, caring and taking care of those around her. Her spirit lives on in all of us that she touched. She will be forever remembered and missed. Friends may visit Wed., Nov. 7, 5pm and are invited to attend the Vigil at 7pm at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. Funeral Mass will be celebrate on Thu., Nov. 8, 10am at Holy Angels Church, Colma with Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.

My Nana was the best. When I think of her I smile. I am so fortunate and grateful to have had so many good memories with Nana. So many birthday parties, holidays, award ceremonies, graduating high school, and great memories of being over at Nana's house on East Market. She would watch me and Traci and we would play cards, watch Perry Mason, Nana would talk to her Tweety Bird, and always be waving at somebody from the window. I have been told by several family members that when I was really sick when I was a baby, my Mom brought me to Nana and she took care of me day and night till I was better. She used to tell me to mind and listen to my Pop's and said how much he cared about me. I never had to worry about hiding my face from Nana. No matter what I did or what she heard, she always expressed her love and made me feel like gold. I felt so honored when Auntie Tammy asked me to be a Pole Barer. I love my Nana and will miss her so much.

Hmmm... What exactly should I say, Well Nana was a strong woman. Now when she was in and out of the hospital lately I thought to myself maybe it is time for her to go, you know what I mean. I know that sounds harsh but she lived a long life at the age of 92 and did well for this world and experienced her three son's deaths and that was enough for her to handle. Actually including all of the heart attacks and strokes that was WAY TOO MUCH TO HANDLE, I think. I loved her with all my heart and that will never change. I no it is sad that we will not see her for a lil' while but that is still okay, because by the we meet again everything will once again be the same . I will miss you lots!!!

Love,
~Gabriel~
