Emma Frediani Obituary
07/14/1929 - 11/11/2024
Emma Frediani passed away peacefully in her sleep on Veterans Day. Emma grew up in a small village, Colle di Compito, Italy. In 1949 Emma married Dino Frediani, setting off for America to pursue the American dream. Despite a limited education, Emma achieved her dreams, creating opportunities for her future generations.
When Emma's daughter started kindergarten, Emma began working full-time as a seamstress. She felt at home in the South City Italian American community where she and Dino settled in the '50s. In the '70s, Emma and Dino built their dream home in San Mateo's Baywood neighborhood with a garden that continues to be admired by passersby.
Emma's top priority was her family. If she told you to stand up straight, fix your pants, or tuck in your shirt, sometimes with a stern look, it was only because she loved you and wanted the best for you. Emma focused on ensuring her loved ones flourished like her garden. We will miss you, Emma, and we appreciate what you did to make our lives better. Arrivederci, Emma.
Emma was predeceased by Dino. She is survived by her daughter, Mara Frediani-Castillo; grandsons, Chris and Rob (Long Island, NY); granddaughter-in-laws, Liz and Michelle; and great-grandchildren-Olivia, Siena, Emilia, and Weston. She is also survived by her sister, Luisa Naccarato (Staten Island, NY).
Please join the family for the Funeral Mass on Friday, November 22, 10:30 am at St. Bartholomew's, 300 Alameda de Las Pulgas, San Mateo. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or National Organization for Rare Disorders would be appreciated.
