My condolences to the Cox family. Kevin and I are keeping you in our prayers during this time of grief. Coach Cox will be forever in my heart as well as my family. Not only did he make Kevin and I laugh he encouraged us to learn, make our mark and do our best. The lessons embedded by him close to 20 years ago still remain. I am thankful for that! He made our years at Rothschild amazing. I am in tears that I was not able to tell Coach Cox how much I respect him and how influential he was to me. With love, Ivy & Kevin Williams and Family

Chris was my assistant principal my first year teaching. I can't tell you what a incredible influence he was on me as a teacher. He was always calm and positive and so good to the students. He set an example I wanted to follow. I still think of him often when I am teaching, even though I have not seen him in over 10 years. My thoughts and prayers are with all his family and friends.

When we look back at how deicated Coach Cox was to all of us at Rothschild Jr High school, how he would drive about the neighborhoods after practice giving rides home to kids who would otherwise have to walk, when we look back at how he would still know our names twenty years later, when we recall his excitement for the written word and travel to natural spaces, and of course the stadiums, when we recall his personable character and encouraging words, I suppose we should have known we wouldn't have him for very long. But the marks he left on every individual child, parent and co-worker are permanent; we carry those with us and we will spread them about like good seed in fertile soil. We were Blessed to have known him at all and thanks to Coach Cox-no matter if we become a Judge, a Sheriff, a Senator, or otherwise-we are Rothschild. And he is the cornerstone of that pride. Blessings to his good Family.

My first year of teaching was at Rothschild Middle (2001 - 2002) in 7th grade science. I was on Coach Cox's team; his room was down the hall and Mrs. Douglas' room was next door. He was always kind and supportive to me. I remember the many encouraging conversations that a first year teacher needs to hear. He had a great rapport with each and every student. It seemed like he had a nickname for them all. One can only imagine all of the lives he impacted over the years. May this provide you comfort in the future. My prayers are with your family.

Coach Cox was my teacher over twenty years ago. He showed such passion for teaching and love for his students. He was tough, but he had the softest heart. I started at Rothschild in the 7th grade and knew no one. He made me feel welcome and at ease. He had high expectations and expected all of us to give nothing less than our best. I was shocked when I walked back into Rothschild almost twenty years after I left, and he knew my full name instantly. I think that shows how much his students really meant to him. He will be missed, but his legacy will certainly live on. That is apparent in the comments I have read that were made by his past and present students. It saddens me to know that the Earth has lost him, but I have no doubt that heaven has gained another wonderful angel. I will pray for your family because I know too well how it feels to lose a loved one. May God wrap his arms around you and comfort you.

God Bless you and your family.

Coach Cox has been a staple in the community for as long as I can remember. He was always known as the "Cool Teacher". During his time as Coach and Teacher at Rothschild (early 90's)on any given evening you were sure to see Coach Cox driving through neighborhoods in his pickup truck loaded with kids who needed rides home from practices. He made a point to really connect with kids on their level and literally spoke the language us kids understood. He was my track coach and a huge influence during my early teens years. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. My prayers and condolences to his family and friends.

Rosie, I am so very sorry for the loss of Chris. He was such a dear friend to our entire family. My parents considered him their fourth son growing up.
