Erlinda Wixson Obituary

Erlinda Wixson
Linda was born Erlinda Friedman in Manila, Philippines before the Second World War. After the war, her mother and two brothers immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Berkeley. She loved the Bay Area, but marriage took her to the East Coast and parts in between before she moved permanently back to California in 1985. She had careers in the restaurant business, in women's retail, and as a legal secretary. Back in California, she volunteered as the landscape chair at Paseo de Moraga HOA for over 20 years. She loved gardening, flower arranging, beading, jewelry making, and raising orchids. She enjoyed traveling, collecting art, playing Keno, having lunch with the girls, beating Lon at Scrabble, and being with her grandchildren.
She was a beautiful person, open and frank and fun. With her smile and quick wit, she was always able to find connection with others, whether it was cooing over a strangers baby at Costco, or chatting and laughing with friends in the neighborhood. She was strong and loving.
Linda was predeceased by sons, David and Peter Grundy, and brothers, Fredrick and Aaron Friedman. She is survived by loving children, Lisa Bilbo, Chris Wixson, and Susan Soares; grandchildren, Jessica Hoytema, Sam Bilbo, Miles Wixson, and Sam Soares; great-grandson Henry; brothers, Stan and Fritz Friedman; and several nieces and nephews. She will especially be missed by her husband of 56 years, Lon Wixson. A celebration of life will be held on May 10 at 1:00 at the Spinnaker Restaurant in Sausalito.
