Eugene Hahn Obituary

Eugene Hahn
October 16, 1959 - January 25, 2023
At 7:47am, Wednesday, January 25th, 2023, Eugene Charles Hahn, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 63. Born at 7:47pm on October 16th, 1959, in San Francisco to Edward and Velma Hahn, Gene received his pilot's license at the age of 16 and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1977. He went on to receive a degree in Aerospace Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Patricia (née Rabidue). Gene and Patty raised two daughters, Stephanie and Emma, who are blessed to have known his humor, compassion, and generosity.
Always the pilot, Gene worked for American Eagle/Wings West Airlines, US Airways Express/ Allegheny Airlines, Horizon Air, and the Federal Aviation Administration and later held roles such as Director Flight Operations, Vice President Maintenance and Engineering, and Senior Vice President Operations. As Gene would say, "Aviation's my life."
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Edward Hahn, in 2007, his mother, Velma Hahn, in 2017, and his brother, Alan Hahn (Connie), in 2021. Gene is survived by his wife Patricia Hahn; two daughters Stephanie Hahn and Emma Hahn; his brothers Don Hahn (Dawn) and Roy Hahn (Linda Montgomery); nieces and nephews Bill Hahn, Jennifer Hahn, Victoria Pavia (Vince), Christopher Hahn, Colleen Hahn, and Kevin Hahn. Please join us in celebration of Gene's life at Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos, California on Saturday, February 25th, 2023, at 6pm. Donations may be sent to the charity of your choice.

Gene and Patty became friends in our Wings West days in '84. Many warm memories...

Gene was, first and foremost, a consumate professional airline pilot. The fact that he combined that with great humor, wisdom, kindness and generosity made him a joy to work with, and a blast to enjoy time off with.

He will be remembered as one of the best, in every way. Ginger's and my hearts are with Patty, Stephanie and Emma.

Gene was a great boss and mentor, always had a smile on his face and knew he enjoyed and had fun with what ever was happening. He will be missed by all he worked with during his time at Allegheny Airlines.
