So difficult to believe that it's already been so long since we lost Gene. I can still hear his voice and vision. David and I miss evenings with him, hearing his tales of a vanishing San Francisco.

I attended Alamo School with Eugene...back in the 40's. I remember him as a funny and cheerful friend. After reading his obituary it seems as if I'm not alone in my memories of Eugene. It's so nice to hear he had a good life, surrounded by a loving family and friends. May you all take comfort in the memories he has left with you.

Erin & Kerry, I just read the "Irish Sporting Green" and came upon your Dad's passing....He was one of a kind....my favorite remembrance of him was the VIP t-shirt you gave to him, Vincent In Pieces, he was always tinkering on those motorcycles.

Cousin's are special friends. Losing Gene, even though years have gone by without seeing one another, feels like losing a bit of childhood. I'll miss him.

Gene was a good friend with a vast knowledge of San Francisco (and world-wide) history and culture. He was a fixture in our neighborhood and I will always think of him when I walk by his hangouts.

David and I mourn Gene's loss. He was a huge presence -- his voice echoes in our memory, with yet another great story or compelling observation. He will live on in our hearts.
