Eugene Robinson III

Eugene Robinson III Passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2011. Born in San Francisco in 1918 to Major Eugene Robinson II and Emma Serena Maddux Robinson. Eugene was raised in San Francisco and Marin Counties. He is preceded in death by his son William Romaine Robinson. Gene is survived by his daughters, Julie (John) Kiil, Laurie Robinson and Helene Robinson, step-children Diane Gunselman, Kathy Guletz and Art Crocker, grandchildren, Andrew (Joanne) Stuart, William Konijn, Jeanne Konijn, James Konijn and Nicholas Robinson-Berry, his sister Nancy Anne Brenza; and many nieces and nephews. Gene served in the Navy from 1941 to 1945 as a First Class Signalman on various ships during World War II. He worked at Standard Oil/Chevron as a Statistician for 47 years and attended night school for 12 yrs to obtain a Business degree from the University of San Francisco. He was married for 17 years to Zelma Elizabeth Romaine Robinson and married for 35 years to Dorothy Schrader Robinson. Gene leaves behind his widow, Barbara Cooney Robinson. He was a member of the Sons in Retirement Tamalpais Branch No. 47 in Marin, San Francisco Yacht Club, San Francisco Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and Marin Rowing Club. His passion was rowing on the Corte Madera channel and contributing funds to building the new Marin Rowing Club. Gene will be missed for his quiet ways and his dry sense of humor. He loved dancing, the outdoors, biking, sailing and gardening. A private memorial will be held aboard the Neptune Society's yacht the Naiad.
