Edward Morrison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daniels Chapel of the Roses Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. - Santa Rosa on Mar. 16, 2026.
Edward "Ed" Morrison, 88, passed suddenly on March 6, 2026, in Santa Rosa, California.

Born October 14,1937, in Lorain, Ohio, Ed lived a life filled with learning, adventure, and love. After graduating from high school in San Francisco, Ed joined the United States Navy that sparked a lifelong love of travel and exploration.

After completing his service, Ed attended the University of San Francisco, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in education.

Ed devoted his career to education, working as a teacher and later serving as vice principal at Santa Rosa Middle School, where he helped shape the lives of many students and was respected for his leadership and dedication.

He shared many of life's adventures with his beloved wife, Carole, before her passing. Together they traveled and created many cherished memories. In recent years, Ed continued exploring with family, including a memorable 16-day trip through five European countries last May with his daughter, Christina and granddaughter, Jessica. He also enjoyed traveling in his RV van with his son John and grandson Johnny, and they had planned another trip to Oregon this week–another example of Ed's enduring enthusiasm for life.

Ed loved the outdoors and remained active, enjoying backpacking, hiking, and camping. He especially enjoyed the friendships he found through his SIRS group, where he shared in volunteering, walks, coffee gatherings, and the camaraderie of supporting one another in retirement.

Ed treasured the friendships he shared in the Hidden Valley neighborhood of Santa Rosa. His family is deeply grateful for the kindness and friendship his neighbors showed him over the years.

Family was at the heart of Ed's life. He is survived by his daughter, Christina Cooper and her husband, Henry; his son, John and his wife, Maria; and his grandchildren Katelyn, McKenzie, Jessica, Johnny, Olivia and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carole, and his son, Jeff.

Ed treasured the time he taught daughter-in-law, Maria, to drive stick shift; the time spent with his grandchildren: sharing laughter over an In-N-Out float; joy in their successes, a fun game of Mexican train, elated smiles during off-roading; and the simple moments of sitting by the campfire telling stories. Thoughtful and curious, he enjoyed discussing life's mysteries and sharing stories that inspired reflection and joy with everyone.

In honor of Ed's memory, take a walk in nature, get a little lost and celebrate the beauty and wonder of life, as he so often did.
