Eugene Squier Obituary

Eugene Raymond Squier 1918-2011 Gene passed away peacefully at the age of 92, on what would have been his 68th wedding anniversary. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Evelyn. He lived a long and interesting life, and valued family and friendships above all else. Gene particularly enjoyed using his wit and humor to get a smile from special people in his life, and well as from complete strangers. He served as a pilot in World War II, stationed in England and flying bomber planes over occupied France. His plane was shot down, and he and his crew all survived thanks to members of the French underground. Gene and his family maintained contact with the French family who took him into their home to hide him, and went back to France several times to visit the family who saved him. After the war, Gene returned to his profession as a dental technician, and owned Regal Dental Lab in the 450 Sutter medical building. He was born, raised, and educated in San Francisco, to a mother who remembered the '06 earthquake and a father who had been a gold miner. Gene is survived by his daughters: Jan (Squier) Andersen and Victoria Squier; two sons-in-law: John Andersen and Wynn Smith; and four grandchildren: Jody, Jason, Whitney and Trent. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. No one who knew him would ever forget him - he brought so much joy to others. Services will be private, cremation by The Neptune Society. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hope Hospice.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Squier family at this time of loss. We have such fond memories of the Squier family our first neighbors in Millbrae. Gene was a delightful man always happy, energetic and put family and friends first. Remember the Studebaker and how proud he was of that restoration.
Later in life I would run into him at the golf club and he was always interested in how our family was doing along with updating me on his girls. Without saying he was proud of his family.

So I am always carry a pack.. so I am packing.." Gene, You always make people laugh and bring a smile on people face..He told me he hire me cus I am the first chinese that has a sense of humor. I miss you Gene.. Kevin T. Wong
