Evan Rountree Webb

Evan Rountree Webb June 30, 1915 - November 20, 2005 Evan was born in Nashville, TN, to Eva (Rountree) and Charles Wilson Webb. Raised in Los Angeles where he graduated from Beverly Hills High and Santa Monica Jr. College. When his brother James died serving in WWII Evan left his job at Douglas Aircraft to serve with the United State Marines in the Pacific. After the war Evan moved to San Francisco where he worked for Hartford Insurance until he retired at 65. He monitored the construction of Hartford buildings in San Francisco, Chicago, Arnold, MD, and Hartford, CT. Evan received a BA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco while working full time and raising a family. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and volunteering his time with various theaters in the Bay Area. Evan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles Wilson Webb. He was survived for a short time by his beloved wife Nance Ashley Webb. He is survived by his son James A. Webb of San Jose, and daughters, Patricia L. Webb of Redwood City and Lysbeth Fernandez of Tulsa, OK, as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nance Ashley Webb June 30, 1919 - July 5, 2006 Nance was born in San Francisco to Elizabeth Gardiner and Ralph Hupp and raised by William James Ashley. Nance developed a life long passion for traveling at an early age when she took a trip to Japan and China with her mother and sister. Nance graduated from Poly High and UC Berkeley. She served with the Red Cross during WWII. She taught grammar school in San Mateo, CA. An active member of AAUW Nance also volunteered many hours as an usher at various theaters in the Bay Area. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Kelton; brother, Larry Ashley; and her beloved husband of 56 years, Evan Rountree Webb. She is survived by her three children Lysbeth Fernandez of Tulsa, OK, James A. Webb of San Jose, CA, and Patricia Webb of Redwood City, CA, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial celebration will be held at The Terraces of Los Gatos, 800 Blossom Hill Rd. on Sat., Sept. 16, 2006 at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations to be made to the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. Details at (parksconservancy.org).
