Florencio Maneja Obituary

Florencio A. Maneja July 26, 1930 - Feb. 19, 2011 After battling heart disease for 14 1/2 years, Florencio A. Maneja passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Kaiser San Francisco. Florencio was born in the Philippines and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Accounting at the University of the East. He worked in Saigon, Vietnam for the USAid for eight years. From there, he immigrated to the United States in September 1972 and has been living in San Francisco, CA since. He retired on January 13, 1994 from the San Francisco Chronicle where he worked for 21 1/2 years. Florencio enjoyed his retirement by traveling the different European countries as well as cruising in the different islands of the Mediterranean. He enjoyed spending time with close family and friends at many gatherings where he can enjoy great food and conversation; turnaround trips to Reno or Cache Creek playing his favorite game of blackjack. Florencio is an active member of the Batangas City Santo Nino Assoc. where he served as a president from 1992-1993. He especially enjoyed going to his grandchildren's sports games whether it's a basketball or baseball game. A dedicated fan of the San Francisco Giants, win or lose, he continues to cheer for them until they finally won the World Series last year. Larry, as most people knew him leaves behind a beloved wife Leticia E. Maneja of 50 years. He is a loving father to Shonny M. Ramljak married to John Ramljak, Corazon M. Marquez married to Joaquin Marquez, Socorro M. Austria married to June Austria and Danilo E. Maneja married to Claudia Yee. Papa will be missed by his eight grandchildren, Alexandria M. Marquez, Ryan M. Marquez, Christopher M. Marquez, Morgan Jon M. Austria, Stephen M. Austria, Isabella M. Austria, Cole Yee Maneja and Jake Yee Maneja. He will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him but I'm sure he's looking down on us with a big smile as he toast to us with a large cup of McCafe Vanilla Flavored Iced Coffee in one hand and waving the Giants cap in another. WE LOVE YOU, DAD." Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, February 23rd and Thursday, February 24th at 4 pm (and a rosary at 7 pm on Thurs., Feb. 24th) at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City, CA. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 25th at 11:00 am at Church of the Epiphany, 827 Vienna Street, San Francisco, CA 94112. Burial will be held at Cypress Lawn, 1370 El Camino Real, Colma, CA 94014.
