Frank Anderson Obituary

Frank Anderson
Frank Stoakes Anderson passed away peacefully at his long-time home in Piedmont on May 24, 2022.
Born in Oakland in 1928 to David L. Anderson and Marguerite Stoakes Anderson, Frank was a life-long Piedmont resident. He started as a kindergartener at Havens Elementary School and graduated from Piedmont High School in 1946. He regaled his family with stories of him working at Buzz's gas station in Piedmont and his time as a yell-leader for PHS.
He graduated from University of California Berkeley in 1950 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, followed by Army service at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
Frank went to work for Fred J. Early Construction Company in San Francisco as a project manager and estimator. He then launched his own company, Anderson Constructors, Inc., which would have offices in San Francisco and Oakland, specializing in commercial tenant improvements and insurance restoration work. Through his work, Frank got to know many great restauranteurs in San Francisco and was a member of the city's Merchants Exchange Club.
Frank was dedicated to Piedmont and for a stint was the Vice Mayor of the town.
Frank skied throughout Europe, and was a season ticket holder for more than 40 years at Squaw Valley. He enjoyed many sailing adventures with his friends, loved biking with the Piedmont Pedal Pushers, and was an avid duck and upland game bird hunter.
Frank is pre-deceased by his wife Lill, who passed the same day in 2016. Survived by his brother David; his children Jeff, Richard, Kelly, Fredrik and Kristen; and his six grandchildren Michael and Tyler, Ben and Evan, and Andreas and Markus.
A true bon vivant, Frank will be missed by many, near and far.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Piedmont Beautification Foundation or Planned Parenthood.

Frank was a close family friend. I enjoyed many memorable trips fishing in British Columbia and dove hunting in Sonora, Mexico with my father Jack and Frank. Frank was truly one of the funniest human beings I have ever met. I will miss him. My condolences to the entire Anderson family.

I had the pleasure of serving on the Piedmont City Council with Frank. He was always honest and direct while being empathetic and pragmatic. He also supported women in their efforts to be treated equal to men. I am sad to know he is no longer with us.
