I was going through old photos and came upon photos that Frank had sent to me. It brought back memories of meeting he and his family at Totos during a family visit to CA in 1993. Frank was my father-in-law's cousin and we took a chance of meeting him during our trip. Well, we not only met Frank, but his entire family. They were so hospitable and made us feel so happy to have met them. While Frank was giving us a tour of his restaurant, I stopped to admire a photo of a small boy standing in an archway with the sun illuminated behind him. At the time, I did not realize that all of the photos in the restaurant were his creations. He promised to send me a copy and at the time I remember thinking that it was such a nice gesture but one that would not come to fruition. Well, lo and behold, several weeks later a package arrived with not only the photo but a lovely hand written letter from Frank stating how nice it was to meet our family.
My husband Bob Spaterella passed away 4 years ago very suddenly. It has taken me this long to go through family photos and I am so glad I did. So many good memories are captured in photos. Frank was a testament to that ideal. It was truly my pleasure to meet Frank and his family those many years ago. The photo he sent me still hangs in my home.

I remember the first Toto's Pizza on 24th and Mission back in the 50's when Frank's father ran the business. Haven't really tasted Pizza that good since. The Toto's on Junipero Serra was very good. RIP

I never knew Mr. Spadarella personally, but I grew up in Daly City and have wonderfully fond memories of dining out at Toto's Pizza. You always got the feeling when you entered his restaurant that it was all about family and you were treated that way. Thank you for the many years of loyal service to the community and for all of the wonderful meals enjoyed at Toto's. My condolences to his family who I'm sure will miss him terribly.
