Fred Long Obituary

LONG, Fred E., III - Passed away on February 20, 2005 in Santa Rosa, CA. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Long; son, Frederick Long IV; stepdaughter, Laurel K. Strand and six grandchildren. A native of Pasadena, CA, Fred was born on July 3, 1922. He graduated from USC in 1949, a Kappa Sigma Delta Eta Chapter Alumni. He had a career in sales of men's clothing, ending with 18 years at Tearney's in Palo Alto. Fred was in the Marine Corp., a paratrooper in WWII South Pacific, including surrender of Bougainville in the Soloman Islands. Interested in USC football, formula one race cars, all music, books and traveling. Fred was well loved for his sense of humor, optimism and enthusiasm. A family memorial will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association of Santa Rosa in his memory. NEPTUNE SOCIETY, Santa Rosa (707) 525-9700
