Fred was a committed artist who was relentless in his search for profound insight into the human condition. His view of artistic creation was that it was an investigation in search of self-discovery and truth in the most honest way possible.

He was also the most effective studio art professor I had ever encountered during the course of a 50+ year friendship. Developing artists that encountered his teaching methods and critiques also knew of the kind but uncompromising integrity of his approach to art education.

Fred´s passing is an irreplaceable loss to those that knew and loved him, and I offer my deepest condolences to all who were close to him as friends and family, and also to the many indebted students and colleagues he leaves behind.
