Fred was also responsible for the arrival of Kiona and Kachina, the zoo's grizzly bears and spearheaded the building of Grizzly Gulch. He was predeceased by his parents Louise Howard and Frederick Lawrence Carroll, and his stepfather, Charles Howard Jr., the son of Charles Howard, owner of the famed racehorse Seabiscuit. Dear Family of Fred Caroll,
I got to stay with Fred in Burney for a weekend back in 1975. Never had so much fun, got to know the local sheriff (don't ask), always wished I had spent more time with Fred. May you find peace and happiness in your memories.

To Fred's Family,
Fred was one of our favorite customers here at Reeder Flying Service at the Twin Falls Airport. He was always a joy to get to see, and we hated to see the bird season end because we knew that we wouldn't see this group of guys again for months. He will be greatly missed, and fall will not be the same without him. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
