Frederick O'Donnell Obituary

Frederick Edward O'Donnell Passed away late Saturday, August 19, 2006 peacefully in his sleep at the age of 71 after a long illness. He was proud to be a third generation native of San Francisco where he was born on December 31, 1934. He was a devoted son to Margaret and Leonard O'Donnell and grandson of Fred and Francis Lemon who were responsible for his development and maturation. A graduate of Riordan High School and University of SF, Fred spent three and a half years on active duty with the Army Security Agency, five years with Matson Navigation Company, 25 years with Ampex Corporation and seven years with the University of California at San Francisco. Fred was a great lover of music who seemed to know every song - he had a collection of hundreds of vintage albums from the 50s and 60s. An avid reader, Fred was also a great lover of ocean cruises and the "good life" in general. Fred enjoyed family and friends and his kind and generous nature endeared him to all those who enjoyed his hospitality over the years. He was a loving husband to his wife of 20 years Vicki; father of his children Karen Fisher and Paul O'Donnell; stepfather of Frank and Ken Babcock; father-in-law of Michael Fisher, Kira O'Donnell, Beth and Sonya Babcock; grandfather of Laura Sheehan, Kurt Zeller, Quaid and Jania Claire O'Donnell, Fiona and Katie Lynn Babcock; brother and best friend of Tom O'Donnell and the late Gerry O'Donnell; brother-in-law to Carol O'Don-nell; and uncle to nephews, Bob, Matthew and Kevin O'Donnell. He will be greatly missed by many friends who enjoyed his quick wit, and charming personality. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life Memorial at Wackford Community Center, 9014 Bruceville Road, Elk Grove on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 3pm. Remembrances may by made in Fred's name to the American Diabetes Assn.
