Gene T. Yee

After a brief battle with cancer, Mr. Gene T. Yee, of San Jose, California died on May 24th, 2015. He was 69 years old.
Gene is survived by his wife, Sophia Yee of San Jose, CA, his children, Dennis Yee (Karla Yee) of San Jose, CA and Jennifer Kim (Jon Kim) of Sunnyvale, CA; his granddaughter MacKenzie Kim; his siblings Lennie Yee, Sue Huey, Kenneth Yee, Tommy Yee, Timmy Yee and Billy Yee; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Dan Wing Yee and Yung Sing Lee Yee.
Gene was born on March 1st, 1946 in Canton Province, Kaiping City, China. He immigrated to the United States with his mother in 1960. He graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, CA in 1966 and was then drafted into the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 1st Cavalry, 9th Cavalry Regiment in the infantry. After a combat tour in Vietnam that resulted in a Purple Heart, he was honorably discharged in 1968 as an E-5 Sergeant. He met Sophia in 1975 and they married in San Francisco, California in 1976. Gene worked at Fairchild Semiconductor, Trilogy Systems, DEC and finally National Semiconductor until he retired in 2009.
Gene loved to fish and took annual fishing trips with his son and friends to Mexico and Alaska. He spent a lot of his free time fishing at beaches and piers. He had many friends and was often busy attending breakfast and lunch social gatherings. Gene also enjoyed watching and attending sporting events. He was San Francisco 49ers season ticket holder with his son and rooted for the Golden State Warriors until the day he passed away.
Gene will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, an avid fisherman, and a proud U.S. Army Veteran.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 30th at Skylawn Memorial Park, Highway 92 and Skyline Blvd., San Mateo, California 94402. Viewing at 10:00am, funeral service and internment at 11:00am. A reception will follow at ABC Restaurant, 973 E. Hillsdale Blvd. #B-5, Foster City, CA 94404. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gene's life.
