George Raymond Goodwin

George Raymond Goodwin February 19, 1922 - April 9, 2007 George left us quietly after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. A third generation native born San Franciscan, he served in the Navy during WWII. When the war ended he continued in the Naval Reserve, attaining the rank of lieutenant. After the war George married his high school sweetheart Marjorie Krase and they have been happily married for the last 62 years. George attended USF after his military service and received a bachelor of science degree. He began working in real estate in 1947. Upon meeting George Sins, together they began their own real estate company called Sins and Goodwin in 1957. Through perseverance and hard work, they built a successful business until the passing of George Sins in 1989. The business then became known as George Goodwin Realty where he continued to work until his death. He is survived by his wife; three children Jim (Sue), Ray (Kathy), Sue (Paul) Galassi; eight grandchildren, Christian, Megan, Sarah, Marc, Nate, Eric, Colin, Lucie; and one great grandchild, Mia Rose. He was preceded in death by his sister Lois and mother, Claire. He is also survived by his brothers Jack and Robert. George was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Olympic Club and the Lion's Club. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 21st at 1:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church in San Francisco at 9th and Anza. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boy Scouts of America, 225 West End Ave., San Rafael, 94901.
