George Stahl Obituary

George Fremont Stahl Died April 3, 2010 in Roseville, CA at age 81. Born November 1, 1928 in San Francisco to Fremont & Anna O'Brien Stahl. He attended Star of the Sea, St Ignatius High School '47, University of San Francisco '51 and Golden Gate University '65; he took great pride in his San Francisco roots. George married Maria Bottaro in 1952 and embraced her family and their Italian culture. He was a purchasing executive in San Francisco and Stockton areas and he taught as adjunct faculty at Golden Gate University, SF, San Joaquin Delta and Humphreys Colleges in Stockton until 1993. He loved youth sports and drew great satisfaction serving as Athletic Coordinator for the St Monica's CYO program. He passionately followed his children and grandchildren's athletic pursuits. Family was most important to him; he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. George & Maria retired to the Villages, San Jose in 1997 enjoying friends, travel & tennis. They moved to Lincoln, CA in 2008 closer to family as his courageous journey with Alzheimers became more difficult. He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife of 57 years, Maria; his loving children, Mark Stahl, David Stahl, Jana (Ray) Tomasello, Karen (John) Ashbaugh; his beloved grandchildren, Sara, Josh, Olivia, Taylor & Alexis Stahl; Tyler, Nathan & Nicholas Ashbaugh, Matthew Greear & Alexandra Sartori; his dear sister-in-law, Laura Silva and her family. A memorial will be held in San Francisco at St. Ignatius College Preparatory, 2001 37th Ave, San Francisco on Sunday, May 2, at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the George and Maria Stahl Scholarship at Humphreys College, 6650 Inglewood Ave, Stockton, CA, or Project Play Africa, 1090 E. 20th St, Chico CA.
