George Thomson Obituary

George Edward Thomson, of Nanaimo, passed away peacefully November 29, 2011 with his loved ones by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba June 10, 1941. George was a man of vision, moving to Vancouver Island in 1972, he founded Paradise Island Cheese, proud of Nanaimo's community spirit and beauty.

George's passion for life included extensive travel, motorcycle trips and many adventures on the water. His love for family and friends was apparent in every aspect of life.

George is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Bonnie, his son's Len (Gail) and Kevin (Carla), his grand children; Branton, Jaidan, Declin, and Michelle, his sisters; Helen, Kathy, and Darlene, his brother Dennis and numerous family members.

We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Beerman for his love and incredible support. We are grateful for the care and compassion provided by the palliative care unit.

A celebration of life will be held at Nanaimo Golf Club Thursday, December 8th at 1:00PM.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donation be made to Nanaimo Community Hospice Society, or charity of your choice.
