Giovanni Rossi

Giovanni Rossi Born in Comuneglia (P. LaSpezia), Italy on August 10, 1922. He passed away peacefully at age 86, surrounded by his loving family, on Mon., July 27, 2009. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rina, of 62 years, daughter Evelyn (Salvatore), son John (Deborah) son Sergio (Cathy) and son Robert (Gina): grandchildren Giuliana, Danny (Jettav), Angella (Chris Russell) Johnny (Sarah Forster)) Nicholas, Gianna, Renee (Henry Kalfsbeek), Robert, Michela, Robbie, Dominic, great-grand- children, Danny Jr., Dylan, Giovanni and Gavin. He also leaves behind his sister Linda Giannone (Italo) brother Frank Rossi (Kathy), sister-in-law Lore Rossi, brother-in-law Italo DePaoli and many nieces and nephews both here, Italy and South America. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Sergio Rossi Jr., sister, Maria Ghiglieri and brother, Donato Rossi. As a young man he was especially proud to have served in the Italian Army as a Bersagliere during WWII. Giovanni immigrated to the U.S. in 1954 with his sister Linda, followed 9 months later by his wife Rina and daughter Evelyn. They settled in Millbrae. He worked for SSF Scavenger Co. He retired after 32 years with the company in 1986. He loved spending time with his family and friends. His passion was working in his vegetable garden, his trips to his home in Lake County, going mushroom hunting and fishing, but what he cherished the most was his family. HE WILL BE MISSED SO VERY MUCH! The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 12 pm at St. Dunstan Church, 1133 Broadway, Millbrae CA 94030. Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. Donations to the American Heart Assoc. or your favorite charity.
