Gloria Paolini Obituary

Gloria Paolini

July 10, 1925 - February 16, 2017

Gloria Paolini, born in San Francisco July 10, 1925, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2017, at her home in Daly City. Her husband, Mario G. Paolini, Sr., predeceased her in 2007 after over 50 years of marriage. She is survived by her four children, Claire, Mario Jr. (Mary), Adrienne, and Bemadette. She was also the loving nonni to her grandchildren, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Mario III.
Gloria was one of four children of Joseph and Carolina Prando and was preceded in death by her sisters, Rina and Rita, and her twin brother, Edward. She is also survived by her sisters-in law, Jean Prando and Norma Paolini, and many nieces and nephews.
Gloria initially grew up on Potrero Hill and attended Commerce High School. After working for several years, she married in 1950. A few years later the family moved to Daly City where she resided until her death. She was a founding parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church and throughout the years provided the Church with much support. She also worked tirelessly for many other charitable organizations and causes over the years. Along with her love of family, she had many dear friends with whom she remained close throughout her life. Like her mother, she was an avid gardener and wonderful cook. Dinner at the Paolini house was always a great meal, whether it be a holiday or just any day of the week. In the true Italian tradition, no matter how many people showed up, there was always plenty of good food and they were always welcome.
Gloria was always there for her family and friends, in goods times and in bad. She endlessly gave of her time and energy, never asking or expecting anything in return. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes to thank all of her family, friends, and care givers who helped with Gloria's care in her final years.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 1 Elmwood Drive, Daly City, California, on Saturday, February 25, 2017, beginning with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Salesians of Don Bosco, 1100 Franklin Street, San Francisco, CA 94109.

To Claire, Mario Jr., Bernadette and Adrienne: I was visiting my sister Marion recently and we were going through long neglected mail for our sister Rosalie when I came across an envelop with Mario Paolini's name on it. It was an old document from the law offices, a familiar address to me since our father, Charles Morosin, was a client, but more importantly a close friend of Mario's. It was then that Marion informed me that your mother had passed away. Please accept our sincerest sympathy at your loss.

Now, reading your mother's obituary, a flood of memories come to me from many years ago. All of them good. All of them meaningful, a testament to the remarkable nature of both your parents. Barbara and I are deeply sorry for your loss.

Dear Gloria

You and i have been good friends for nearly 80 years. We attended Commerce together, picked tomatoes in the summer, played an important role in each other's weddings, raised our children and remained friends for eight decades. I was just telling my son Don that you have been a wonderful and loving friend. We've shared many good memories. I will miss you my dear friend. I love you

I want to offer my condolences on Mrs. Paolini's passing. I last saw her a few years ago on visiting Claire in their home, with our friend Mary Parsons.

I also want to reach out to Claire. I have been wanting to visit her since our Dear Mary's passing. Please let her know that I am thinking about her and have her contact me, if possible. I would much like to visit her.

Thank you,
