I was a student in Mr. Hearn's social studies classes at Horace Mann in 1963-65 and he took time to be a role model and positive influence for a socially awkward nerdy 13 year old like me. The things I learned from him extended far beyond the classroom. Those lessons he taught me on the playing field: Hard work and competition, fair play, honesty and good sportsmanship applied not only in athletics but in life, too. I never got to thank him and tell him how much I appreciated him. I am telling him now and I know he will hear me. Thank you, Mr. Hearn.

I will always remember what a true gentleman and friend you have been to me for so many years Papa G and I will always be there for Vonnie. Your wife and sons are a wonderful reflection of how special you are. Your brother and sister have so much of your wonderful sense od style and your great humor that we all love. Always in my heart with the greatest respect for the kindness you have given me. Sue

In 1966 and 1967 I worked with Greg when I was a very young teacher at Horace Mann Jr. High in SF. He became an early role model for me and I learned a great deal about teaching and learning from Greg. He had a great mind and great sense of humor. I can still feel the inspiration he provided for me at a time that I really needed it.
