Hal Thiederman Obituary

Hal Thiederman 88, died July 4, 2010, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Boise, Idaho, on April 2, 1922 and completed his early education in Idaho. After serving in the Army Air Corps in New Guinea and Okinawa for four years during W.W. II, he enrolled in the architectural department at the University of California at Berkeley. He graduated cum laude in 1948 and then earned a master's degree in 1949 winning the Silver Medal for general excellence. Hal practiced his profession throughout the western states from his office in San Francisco. He worked with Edgar Kaiser and Dr. Sidney Garfield to design several of the Kaiser hospitals in the bay area and Los Angeles. He was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from Boise State University in 1995. In April of this year, he celebrated his 50th year as a member of the Olympic Club. In his leisure time, he enjoyed travel, photography, and music. Hal resided in Kensington since 1961 and is survived by his wife, Elivia, and numerous nephews.
