Henry Yu Obituary

YU, Henry Tak Choi - Born April 15, 1958. Passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2005. Henry was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 22 years, Connie. All knew him as a loving and dedicated father to their three cherished children, Chrystina (11), Michael (10) and Robert (8). For the past 24 years, he created a wonderful life for his family in Piedmont, California. His family was the sunshine and the happiness of his life. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley, Haas School of Business, with a degree in accounting and finance. Henry managed the family businesses, Tin's Market and Tin's Teahouse, before becoming a real estate broker and financial consultant. He was an avid cyclist and passionate about the sport. Equally as important were the friendships he developed with his cycling friends. In order to satisfy his passion for cycling, he would often wake up in the wee hours of the morning to start his trek around the bay before joining his family as they began their day. Henry was especially proud of completing the Davis Double Century. He also loved the outdoors, the beach, and sunsets. He leaves behind a loving family and friends who will greatly miss him. Henry will be remembered for his warm smile, quick wit, and joyous laughter. He had a kind and generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Friday, June 3, 2005 from 6-8 p.m., and a Celebration of his Life on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. Both services will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland. (510) 654-0123. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Connie Yu, c/o N. Ong, 766 McKinley Ave., Oakland, CA 94610, toward the college funds for Chrystina, Michael and Robert Yu.

Dear Yu Family,

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Henry. He was a wonderful neighbor and his bright smile and energy will be missed. I hope one day you are each able to take this extreme sadness and use it to make you better and stronger.

I imagine right now Henry is on the best bike having the most perfect ride ever.

Love,

Michael Nobori
