Resident of Half Moon Bay 4/4/1950 - 3/09/2013
Ilva Evan passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, March 9th, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was 62 years old.
Ilva was born in San Gregorio to Tommaso and Gina Del Peloso. She graduated from Half Moon Bay High School in 1968. Ilva and her husband Stephen were married in 1972 and spent 40 memorable and loving years together in Half Moon Bay. They owned and operated Original Johnny's restaurant for 17 years with Ilva's radiant smile greeting customers.
Ilva loved to spend her time cooking, reading, and most of all with family. She was a gracious hostess, hosting many dinner parties over the years. She was an excellent decorator, entertainer and cook, always experimenting in the kitchen and dazzling her family and friends with her creativity.
Ilva touched many lives with her kindness, encouragement and love of life. Her spirit will live on and we are blessed to have had such a strong woman in our lives.
She is preceded in death by her father, Tommaso and is survived by her mother Gina Del Peloso of Half Moon Bay, husband Steve of Half Moon Bay, children Tom (Donna) of Redwood City, Lisa of Half Moon Bay, sibling Cathy (Frank) Croaro of Half Moon Bay, brother-in-law Tom of Willow Glen, sister-in-law Dana of Los Gatos, grandchildren Olivia and Nicolas, and her nieces and nephews.
Rosary services will be at 7pm, Thursday, March 14th and funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, March 15th both services will be held at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church, in Half Moon Bay.
The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, gifts in honor of Ilva Evan be made to support the Caregivers' Program or the Neuro-Oncology Fund in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UCSF. Checks may be made out to the UCSF Foundation and sent in c/o Eileen Murphy, 220 Montgomery St., 5th floor, San Francisco, CA 94104.
