James Carroll Obituary

James D. Carroll March 12, 1935 - October 2, 2008 Originally from West Virginia, Jim studied architecture at the University of Cincinnati and then relocated to San Francisco where his creative genius as an architectural entrepreneur touched many buildings throughout the Bay Area. Jim's professional passion was to recycle commercial structures and give them a vibrant new life. Jim leaves us with a special collection of travel and portrait photography that makes the world come alive for all. You could put Jim with any group of people from any walk of life and he would bring out the best in everyone. He had an incredible wit and always a twinkle in his blue eyes. It was a privilege to know and love him. Jim was recently predeceased by his former wife, Claudia, with whom he remained great friends. Jim is survived by his life partner, Jodie Faier, with whom he shared all of life's joys and experiences in the most special of ways; two loving sons, Mark and Adam; daughter-in-law, Yoko Miyashita; two incredible grandchildren, Aiden and Malea; and spoiled and loving dogs Cleo, Patra and Milo.
