James Hughes Obituary

James Edward Hughes Died at his home on Wednesday, April 20. He is survived by his sister, brother, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and many dear companions in philosophical debate, tennis, fixing the world, and general revelry. His interests were far-reaching, and his curiosity was insatiable. He recently completed his text on Rational Idealism. He created a trust for biogenetic research at the University of California, Berkeley where contributions can be made in lieu of flowers. Ed deeply and articulately expressed his appreciation for those who surrounded him in the last days of his life. He died in the hope and in the belief that the world was becoming a more thoughtful and loving place. His memorial service is ongoing in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Eddie was one of the most interesting people that I've known. I could talk and listen to his stories for hours. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. So very glad we were able to get together in march for his celebration. Love, Ginger Balkcom

Ken and I were blessed to know Ed Hughes. He was peaceful, loving and so inquisitive. We will miss him at our family gatherings, but remember him always.
