On that December 29th Kavanaugh went on without me. Age 64 at the time and I had a heart attack that day. I survived, he left me behind. But I have all the books. They will continue to guide me. He told me who I was . . . No one had ever done that before.

I remember Bill Kienzle, my late husband, telling me stories of his brilliant seminary classmate, "Jamie" Kavanaugh. So many stories. We watched over the years with joy as Jamie became so well known for his writing, his poetry, his sense of humor, and yes, his celebritydom.
Odd that Jamie died one day after the 8th anniversary of Bill's death; I picture the two of them having a happy reunion in the hereafter, as once more the two K's joke and laugh.
Sacred Heart Seminary's class of 1950, whose members were ordained in 1954, was indeed The Class the Stars Fell On. And the majority of those stars are now shining in Heaven.

He was a Masterpiece. My first contact with him was in response to having read "Men Too Gentle..." I wrote to him saying, "there are some wolves too gentle to live among men." He responded and we remained in contact for quite some time. He was a man of prayer and deep insights. He was a man of justice and mercy. Surely God was and is pleased with him and the lives he made better on this side of life.
My love and prayers are with the family and friends. He shall never be forgotten!

I am privileged to have had this man be a part of my youth when I was a student at St. John Vianney in 1958. He has always been with me offering his wisdom through his writing and ideas. He will always remain so. I will never forget him. He was a blessing to us all. This man of letters gave of himself with that wonderful smile.

Jim and I walked the streets of Chicago and the beaches of Costa Rica together. His greatest lesson taught to me was to realize the difference between "wants & needs" Only needs are truly important.

My sincere condolences, prayers, and positive thoughts to Dr. Kavanaugh's family. I knew him since my grad school days at Michigan State in the late 1950's and he was a true guiding light in my life. We corresponded for several years but that ceased but I will remember him as a true mentor of mine.
