Jane Wong Obituary

WONG, Jane - The memories of our Mother Will be cherished forever In our hearts and minds Our beautiful and beloved mother passed away peacefully in her San Francisco home on September 16, 2005. She was 83 years old and fought a courageous three-year battle of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Despite her struggle with her illness, she remained cheerful with the challenges she confronted. She never complained and always said, "don't worry, I'll be all right." She was constantly surrounded with love and support from her sons, family and friends. Preceeding her in death were her loving husband of 47 years, Robert "Bob" Lim Wong; her second son, Randy Wong; and her parents, Chin Gim Hom and Toy Shell Gay. She is survived by her children, Christopher Wong of San Anselmo, Clifford Wong (Lorna) of San Mateo, Robert Wong, Jr. (Florence) of San Francisco; five grandchildren: Leanna, Cristina, Brendon, Karena and Nicholas; sister, Barbara Fong (Phillip) of South San Francisco; and brother, Vincent Toy (May) of Las Vegas. Jane was born on April 29, 1922 in Canton, China, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 10. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and had a heart of gold. She worked side by side with her husband Bob for over 30 years as proprietors of the El Rancho Supermarket in Daly City until they retired in 1990. Jane was a very kind and loving person. She enjoyed horse racing with her late husband Bob and she helped in the local community. She was extremely devoted to her children, family and friends, and loved the togetherness of the family gatherings. She always had a beautiful smile on her face. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends; she touched all those who knew her with compassion and love. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jane's life at a Memorial Service on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m., Viewing one hour prior to the services at Cypress Lawn Funeral Home, 1370 El Camino Real, Colma, CA 94014. Contributions in her honor can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America, 1390 Market Street, #1200, San Francisco, CA 94102.

For The past few summers, I've been going to San Fransico for vacation. The summer of 2002 I went to visit. It was about a five years since I've seen my Auntie Jane, and when I did she was happy to see me as much as I was happy to see her. The past few summers, she has always been kind and giving. She is the nicest lady you can ever meet. She will always be in our hearts. I will never forget her.

No word can ever help to get over the loss of a parent. Good memories are the only comfort. We will always remember your mother as the young looking elegant woman who radiated warmth and grace. Oh, to look like her in our eighties!

Thinking of you, with love.

I just wanted to say that as a little girl shopping at El Rancho, I can remember your mom and dad always being so nice. She was a wonderful woman. I know the pain you must feel, but you will find the strength to go on with wonderful memories to re-live. My thoughts are with you.
