Jarrold (Jerry) Kunz died July 8, 2023, following a severe stroke on June 25, 2023. He was 90. He is remembered for his engineering and managerial work in the natural gas half of PG&E. He was the engineer in charge of building a natural gas pumping station in Oregon in 1967-1968, and later he traveled the nation negotiating with natural gas producers. He is also remembered for his fatherly shepherding of several homeless young people, getting them linked up with social services and finding apartments for them. He also found homes and provided financial assistance for several other of his friends who had fallen on hard times. Finally, he is remembered for his stellar collection of California pottery, especially Catalina Island pottery. His collection of tile tables was part of a San Francisco Airport Museum exhibit in 2004, and his collection of Catalina pottery comprised an entire Airport Museum exhibit in 2007-2008. He is survived by his spouse, Richard Winger of San Francisco; his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Shirley Kunz of San Jose; his sister Nancy Brune of Lawrence, Kansas; his niece Carolyn Harris ; his niece Katherine Lichter; his nephew Jeremy Brune; his niece Erica Hogwood; his nephew Gus Brune; his step-nephew David De La Fuente; his step-niece Lisa Dunn.
