Javier Villagomez Obituary

Javier Villagomez Born September 22, 1925 in Yuriria, Guanajuato, Mexico and died peacefully at home in San Francisco surrounded by his family on April 21, 2011. Survived by his wife Celia of 63 years, his lifetime companion, who he met at Sweets Ballroom in Oakland, CA and continued dancing to the swing of the Big Bands and fervor of a paso doble which he shared with his children, Raul, Alicia (Patrick Dunphy), Jaime (Annabelle Tinoco), and Silvia (Philip Lorch), grandchildren Javier, Kristina, Mireya and Julia and many extended family and friends. Adventurous at a very young age, after spending his formative years in Mexico City and exploring a bullfighting career, came to the United States to complete an apprenticeship program joining the Boilermakers Union and worked to refine his skills and lay out techniques with Ferry Steel Co. for 35 years. His dedication to family and friends was lovingly expressed through his preparation of fine meals which might take a whole day to prepare after shopping for just the right ingredients from his choice shops around the city. He was an avid enthusiast of the Sunday news programs and loyal Giants fan. Family and friends are invited to attend the rosary vigil on Sunday, April 24, 2011, at 7pm, Valente Marini Perata, 4840 Mission Street, San Francisco and Funeral Mass on Monday, April 25, 2011, at 1pm, Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 666 Filbert Street, San Francisco. Donations in his memory to the UCSF Cardiology Department.
