Rabbi Jay M. Krause passed away in San Francisco, CA on March 7th, 2016, at the age of 81. He was surrounded by his family and friends as he passed away peacefully in his sleep. Beloved husband of the late Elly K. Krause; loving father of Shira Eve Krause, Jenny Aliza (Mark) Bernstein, and Aaron Joel (ChiYin) Krause; adored grandfather of Jacob Benjamin, Eli Solomon, Amalia Michal, and Isabella Sara Seigel; Anastasia Rose and Alexander Ross Richardson; Daniel Lee, Emma Lourdes, and Dylan Bernstein; and Abigail Evelyn and Sophia Eleanor Krause; dear son of the late Eileen and Max Krause, son-in-law of the late Esther and Sidney Kayman; loving brother of Edmund (Anne) Krause and Dr. Marvin (Kay) Krause, brother-in-law of Dr. Harvey (Susan) Kayman, dear uncle, cousin, teacher, and friend.

To the Krause family, so sad at hearing of Jay's passing. Rabbi Krause was a lot of things to a lot of people but most of all a true, loving, thoughtful and dedicated teacher to his Brandeis children. A model of a mensch to them. Thank you for sharing yourself with our children
