Jean Sullivan Obituary
May 26, 1928 - September 19, 2022
Jean Sullivan passed away peacefully September 19, 2022 at the age of 94 on the Central Coast of California where she spent the last chapter of her life to be close to her daughters. It was a special time for the three of them.
Born in Burlingame, CA, Jean moved to San Francisco as a young girl with her parents and two brothers. She was a proud graduate of Lowell High School and the University of California at Berkeley. On a beautiful summer day in 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, James J. Sullivan, Jr. at the mission in Carmel, CA. As a newlywed, Jean began a teaching career in El Paso, TX while Jim was stationed there in the U.S. Army.
In 1960, Jim and Jean moved into their beloved Terra Linda home where they lived for 55 years and raised their children, Mark, Jim, Pat, Jeannie and Maryanne. The oven was often being used to bake something delicious as Jean showed love for others by baking her famed butter cookies, cakes and pies. Those beautifully hand-written recipes will keep her spirit alive. She also enjoyed tending to her rose garden and created the most magnificent bouquets.
After raising her children, Jean began a second career as a medical transcriptionist and enjoyed her many years at Kaiser, San Rafael. Always a hard worker, she was a devoted caregiver to her parents, brothers and husband until their passing. Affectionately known as "Mama Jean" to her grandchildren; James, Mia, August, Lauren, Joseph, Ryan, Emma Jean, Grace and Jeannette, her love for her family was never ending and will remain with us in our hearts forever.
A private family service is planned.

Hi Jeannie, my deepest sympathies on the passing of your mom. I remember her fondly. A detail that came back to me when thinking about her was of her painstakingly making a beautiful fresh flower crown for a statue of Mary for a feast day. I work for a nonprofit and we get free flowers every Monday. Yesterday´s flowers included this bunch, a variety I haven´t seen for years but it just so happens this is the exact flower from my memory of your mom´s crown making! I couldn´t help but feel this was a sign from your mom. Take care.

What beautiful words to describe your precious mother. I did'nt know her but could feel her essence by your description.
They say we become our mothers and fathers as we go along. I do know you Jeannie. And I can say you show your love for others in a multitude of ways, like your mama.
