Jeannine Teshara Obituary
Jeannine Teshara
01/06/1930 - 06/29/2025
Jeannine Teshara, for more than 67 years the wife and life partner of Tom Teshara, passed peacefully June 29, 2025, at the age of 95. She was recently placed by a group of close family and friends at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, California next to Tom, who passed away in 2017. Jeannine Marie Carriere was born January 6, 1930, to Victor and Bernadine Carriere. She grew up in a large and loving family, with three brothers – Vic, David, and Ronnie, and sister Charmaine. As young adults, Tom and Jeannine met in the late 1940s, bringing together two remarkable families. They married October 15,1949, starting their young couple life as residents of the Westlawn district of Daly City. In addition to his employment, Tom was a capable semi- pro baseball player. Several of his semi-pro baseball buddies lived in the same neighborhood, all starting their families at about the same time in the early 1950s. Son Steve was born in March 1951, his sister Debra in May 1953. With their expanded family, Jeannine and Tom moved to South San Francisco, the community they would forever call home. Jeannine was fully engaged and supportive of all Tom and the family's activities. Tom enjoyed being a mentor to young people, particularly those interested in sports. Jeannine was by Tom's side as he co-founded the "Pee Wee" league, widely recognized as the first organized baseball program for boys 6-10 years old, and when he later served as the athletic director and basketball coach at St. Veronica's school. She and Tom enjoyed family gatherings, introducing Steve and Debbie to their grandparents, many cousins and other relatives, along with Jeannine and Tom's many long-time friends, colleagues and neighbors. During the years Tom worked as the general manager of Sun Valley Dairy, a business co-owned by his father Ben Teshara, Jeannine was a valued member of the Sun Valley Dairy employee family. When Steve and Debbie were on their own as young adults, Jeannine returned to full-time work at the Wilson & George Meyer company in South San Francisco. Tom became involved with the United States Naval Academy, evolving his love for mentoring young people into a civilian role as a Naval Academy guidance advisor. This was first as a volunteer "Blue and Gold officer", later as the full-time head of the Academy's West Coast Candidate Guidance office. Jeannine was by Tom's side in that endeavor too. They both recognized that for young adults from the West Coast, moving east to attend the Naval Academy was a life changing experience, one that required understanding and support from their respective families. Tom and Jeannine established the Northern California Naval Academy Parents Club to help encourage and facilitate that support. They were both justifiably proud of their service to the young men and women who became Academy midshipmen and their families. Many of those they counseled went on to successful careers in the Navy and civilian life, serving their country, their communities, and their own families. By the time they retired from this labor of love, Tom and Jeannine had established a remarkable legacy. Jeannine was preceded in passing by Tom, Tom's brother Larry Teshara, her own brothers, and daughter Debbie. She is survived by son Steve, sister Charmaine, Charmaine's husband John and their extended family, sister-in-law Peggy Teshara, Peggy and Larry's son Greg, his wife Elizabeth and their sons Ben and Declan, by granddaughter Nicole Teshara (Steve's daughter) and by granddaughter Stephanie McIntosh (Debbie's daughter) and Stephanie's husband Eric. Throughout their life together, Jeannine and Tom exemplified love and dedication to their own families – the Teshara's and the Carriere's. They provided all of us so many important lessons and cherished memories we will forever hold in our hearts.
