Jerome Franco Obituary

Jerome "Jerry" S. Franco
04/03/1946 - 07/16/2025
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jerry Franco, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Jerry peacefully left this world at his home in San Mateo, California. Born on April 3, 1946, Jerry was 79 years old. He grew up in Daly City and attended Jefferson High School and the College of San Mateo.
Jerry dedicated many years to a successful career in banking, serving in various capacities in his role as a Vice President, before retiring in 2006. In his retirement, Jerry split his time between his homes in San Mateo and Sydney, Australia, while keeping track of his beloved SF Giants, 49ers, and Warriors. In addition, he loved to frequent Monterey Bay and found the quiet seaside setting and great food a relaxing escape.
Family was very important to Jerry and one of his greatest pleasures was to spend time with his family both here in the U.S. as well as in Australia. He hosted some legendary and memorable holiday family get-togethers at his house over the years.
A true "classic rock" music enthusiast, one of Jerry's favorite bands was the Rolling Stones. He was an avid collector and enjoyed listening to live concert recordings, a testament to his deep love for great music from any era.
Jerry was a natural entertainer. He would regale friends and family with stories of his experiences and sometimes mischievous adventures, always told with much humor and laughter.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Irene Penney Franco; his daughter, Christine Franco (Ken); his brother, Jeff Franco (Denise); his two cherished grandchildren, Jackson and Naomi; and a much-loved group of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mario and Anne Franco; and his best friend and younger brother, Dr. James C. Franco, with whom he had countless fun adventures over the years.
A private Memorial Service will be held at the Episcopal Church of St. Matthew in San Mateo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Jefferson High School, Franco Family Scholarship Fund in Jerry's name. Make checks payable to Jefferson Union High School District and send to: Jefferson High School, attn: Romelia Santos, 6996 Mission Street, Daly City, CA 94014.
