John Bergstrom Obituary

John "Neck" Bergstrom
August 17, 1979 - February 1, 2021
Fun loving Oaklander, John David Bergstrom, passed away on February 1. Many of his close friends called him "Neck". Anyone who knew him could honestly say that he was the nicest guy they ever met. Born in Southern California, he moved to the Bay Area over 20 years ago, lived in San Francisco for a few years, and eventually bought a beautiful home in Oakland. He was an employee for Able Services, was a union member of Local 39, and currently worked as the Facility Engineer at Uptown Station in Oakland. He spent his free time taking road trips, going to shows, and skateboarding around town. His many hobbies included skiing, working on his Mach 1 Mustang, and playing pool with a local league. John is preceded in death by his younger sister Jenny. He is survived by both his parents; Sandra (Arlene) Bergstrom, Tom Olson, and his cat, Soleil. He will be deeply missed by many more family, friends, and neighbors. There are no services planned. Donations on his behalf can be made to Habitat for Humanity, an organization that was very meaningful for John.

I miss my Love, Best Friend, and Partner in Crime. I'm sorry I misspelled Jennie's name in the obit. I'm sorry, Sandra, that you have lost both your children unexpectedly. No mother should have to suffer the pain of out living her children. John was so good to me and I loved to make him laugh. I had a crush on him from the first day we met, and years later, when we finally hooked up, I cherished every day! I'm going to continue to miss John everday. I'm so grateful we went to Yosemite on Christmas. He had never been before and it was a really great weekend trip ❤

John was a lovely young man. He was so proud of his house and his job. He worked hard for both. He was sweet, kind, and funny. We will miss him terribly. God be with you, John.
