John Hallinan Obituary

John Edmond Hallinan

100, of San Rafael, passed away on March 2, 2016. He was born in Oakland on October 29, 1915. John Hallinan graduated from Alameda High School in 1933 and completed three years of pre-law at the University of San Francisco. He was married to Zoya Hallinan in November of 1971. John had a career in Maritime for 35 years with American President Lines as a Senior Clerk to Chief Purser and had a passion for all things Maritime. John was Prisoner of War from December 7, 1941 to August of 1945 in Japan. His ship was seized at sea immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He is preceded in death by his wife Zoya Hallinan, parents Charles and Rose Hallinan and brother Charles J. Hallinan. He is survived by nieces Charlene Morrison (Bill), Patricia Luna (Art), Carolyn Arias (Michael) and nephew Casey Hallinan. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 11am at St. Isabella Catholic Church in San Rafael.
